Final Assignment: ICAROS Health Project

ICAROS Health Project

Post 1: Project Development Process

FlexiHeal Application Design

The development of the FlexiHeal application followed a structured design thinking approach, ensuring a balance between functionality and user experience. Below is an overview of our journey:

1. Initial Pitching and Feedback
We started by presenting our initial design concepts to Professor Chong, who appreciated our innovative ideas and provided constructive feedback. Our program director, Yusri, suggested exploring both light and dark themes for the app. After discussing as a team, we decided to prioritize the dark theme, as it resonated most with our vision and user preference.

2. Task Delegation
Our team leader, Angel, divided the tasks into two main sections:

  • Patient Section: Handled by Amelia and me.
  • Staff Section: Managed by other teammates.

This division of labor allowed us to focus on delivering detailed and user-friendly designs tailored to the specific needs of each user group.

3. Design Research and Inspiration
We studied other healthcare app designs and drew inspiration from their themes and titles. This research helped us incorporate effective elements and innovative ideas into our application.

4. Design and Prototyping
Throughout the design process, we adhered to the dark theme, focusing on usability and visual consistency. We incorporated feedback, fine-tuned our designs, and identified potential issues during the prototyping phase to ensure an intuitive interface.

5. Final Design
The final output featured:

  • A cohesive color palette (032F2E, 171717, D9D9D9) to complement the logo and enhance the dark theme.
  • A sleek, modern interface designed to meet the needs of patients and staff.
  • A seamless workflow that balanced aesthetics with usability.

Post 2: Reflection and Learnings

FlexiHeal Application Design

Working on the FlexiHeal application was both challenging and rewarding, offering numerous learning opportunities. Below are my reflections and key takeaways:

1. Learning from Feedback
Feedback from Professor Chong and Yusri proved invaluable. Their insights emphasized the importance of iterative design and addressing diverse user preferences, such as the choice of themes.

2. Collaboration and Task Management
The clear task delegation by our team leader, Angel, facilitated a smooth workflow. Collaborating with Amelia on the patient section underscored the importance of teamwork and effective communication in creating a unified design.

3. Research and Inspiration
Exploring other healthcare app designs provided valuable inspiration. This research broadened our perspective and introduced us to fresh ideas that improved our app's design and functionality.

4. Attention to Detail
The iterative design and prototyping process reinforced the importance of meticulous attention to detail. Frequent checks ensured errors were addressed early, resulting in a polished final product.

5. Color Palette and Theme
Selecting a consistent dark mode theme with a well-thought-out color palette played a critical role in the app’s overall aesthetics and user experience.

Final Reflection:
The project emphasized the value of user-centered design, collaboration, and continuous improvement. It has equipped me with the skills and insights necessary for future design challenges, reaffirming my commitment to creating intuitive and visually compelling solutions.

Conclusion:
Through teamwork, research, and a commitment to quality, we successfully delivered an application that balances functionality with a sleek, modern aesthetic, setting a strong foundation for future projects.
