Value Sketching:Exploring Light and Shadow in Urban Heights

Creative Process:
1. Observation and Analysis:
I choose this image because the building have a special structure and it have obvious light and shadow. The process commenced with a careful observation of the building's structure. Understanding how light interacted with its surfaces was crucial in determining the placement of highlights and shadows. From the diagram we can notice that the light coming from left side .

2. Initial Sketching:
The initial sketches helped me to establish the basic composition and proportions. This stage served as a foundation, providing a roadmap for the subsequent layers of value application.

3. Layered Value Application:
Building up layers of values,i sketch the value from the darkest shadows to the brightest highlights, it brought dimension to the sketch. After value sketching it become more realistic and have that kind of 3D feeling. At first i planning to draw the outline for the building, but after that i realised that using natural light and shadow act as the outline make the building feel more realistic.

Reflection:
Exploring the vertical expanse of a simple building through value sketching was a journey of understanding the subtleties of light and shadow. In conclusion, the value sketch of the tall building stands as a testament to the power of simplicity and the nuanced dance between light and shadow.
